"You don't get to choose how you're going to die.
Or when.
You can only decide how you're going to live.
Now."

- Joan Baez

How to make a pledge:

Although I am not walking this year, you can still make a pledge in honor of my sister-in-law, Michelle. Her cousins Patty Diercks and Lisa Hartwell are walking in her honor in the November 2006 San Diego Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk.

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death for all women, and the leading cause of death in women between the ages of 40 and 55. Men can also be victims of this disease. Both its cause and the means for its cure remain undiscovered. Currently, one million women in the United States have the disease, but don't know it. And they probably won't know about their potentially fatal illness for another five to eight years. Think about all the wonderful women in your life — your mother, significant other, sisters, daughters, aunts, and friends. Sadly, each one is at risk. I encourage you to take a step with the 3-Day walkers in this incredible adventure by pledging your support.

More than likely, you've also known someone who has been affected by breast cancer. The statistics are startling:

    • Breast cancer strikes one out of every 8 American women.
    • It is the most common form of cancer among women in the U.S.
    • 185,000 new cases are discovered annually, 500 diagnoses per day.
    • It is the deadliest form of cancer in women under age 55.
The good news is that early detection is key to survival. That is why we asking for your help!

Your generous contribution will support the breast cancer cause through the following nationwide programs:

    • Biomedical research
    • Clinical care
    • Financial assistance and support services
    • Educational seminars and advocacy training
    • Early detection and awareness

Please help do your part in the fight against breast cancer and pledge your support.

Your tax-deductible contribution will help women, like my mom, with undetected breast cancer find out early enough to survive. Most of them are underserved women who would otherwise not have access to education and diagnostic services. They would die without a fighting chance. Here is a chance for your actions to save lives. Real lives.

Thank you in advance for your generosity,

Jennifer Lee (Walker Number 3060) & Brian Ng
